Over the past few years, MTC has experienced rapid growth and demands for space have increased to such an extent that in 2018, we were invited to present our ideas for how we could supply a modern and exciting solution.
The brief required us to design something sympathetic to the aesthetic of the current buildings on the site, but also breaks new ground, enhancing the campus and reinforcing MTC’s image as a forward-thinking design and technology organisation.
Project Size: 2477 sqm, 3 Storey, 81 Modules
The key challenge here was time, as MTC were finding they were rapidly growing out of their current building quicker than expected and needed more space urgently. Space was not only becoming limited, but it was becoming inadequate to properly cater for those already onsite. Catfoss would need to work quickly to provide a solution for additional space on their Ansty Park site.
Catfoss worked in consultation with MTC to design a three-storey, 81-bay modular building complex that would provide additional offices, meeting rooms, welfare areas, circulation space, workshops and a café area. Construction would be carried out offsite to allow for quicker completion and to minimise disruption onsite.
While Catfoss manufactured the main modular building elements offsite, work was carried out onsite – including piled foundations, services and landscaping. This was all carried out so that the building itself could be craned into position, which it was in less than two weeks.
